Design
The original 12.9-inch iPad Pro features a premium unibody aluminum enclosure with slim side bezels and classic physical Touch ID integrated into the home button. The tablet measures 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9 mm and weighs 713 grams for the Wi-Fi model (723 grams for the Cellular variant). It debuted the Smart Connector interface along the side edge for magnetic keyboard attachment and included first-generation Apple Pencil support. The device is available in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray finishes.

The massive 12.9-inch Retina display offers a high resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels at 264 ppi with full sRGB color accuracy. Powered by the 64-bit Apple A9X processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, delivering double the graphics capability of prior iPad generations. Internal storage configurations include 32GB, 128GB, or 256GB options without external storage expansion.

The tablet contains a built-in 10,307 mAh (38.8 Wh) rechargeable lithium-polymer battery capable of up to 10 hours of web browsing over Wi-Fi or video playback. Connectivity and physical interfaces include a Lightning port, 3.5mm headphone jack, four-speaker audio system for dynamic stereo sound, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and optional 4G LTE with Nano-SIM support.
