Design
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge introduced a groundbreaking visual concept with its subtly curved glass on both sides. The device marked a complete break with the plastic past by using a robust aircraft-quality aluminum frame, combined with Gorilla Glass 4 on both the front and back. The integration of the fingerprint scanner into the physical home button on the front has been improved to a 'touch-to-unlock' system, which ensures fast and ergonomic unlocking in a business environment.
Display
The 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with an impressive Quad HD resolution delivers an extremely high pixel density of 577 ppi. This ensures unprecedented sharpness when reading texts and viewing graphic content. The unique curved edges ('Dual-edge') not only add a premium look, but also offer functional features such as 'People Edge' for quick access to favorite contacts and subtle light notifications when the device is face down.
Performance
Equipped with the advanced 14nm Exynos 7420 octa-core processor and 3GB faster LPDDR4 RAM, the Galaxy S6 offers Edge smooth performance. The device switches quickly between intensive applications and offers stable platform operation. The 32GB internal storage uses fast UFS 2.0 flash technology, resulting in significantly faster loading times for documents and multimedia, although storage expansion via microSD card is not possible on this model.
Battery
The integrated 2600 mAh battery is compactly designed to maintain the slim 7mm profile. Thanks to the support for 15W Fast Charging, the device is quickly ready for long-term use after a short charging session. In addition, the Galaxy S6 Edge comes standard with built-in support for both Qi and Powermat wireless charging, allowing for flexible charging on induction mats without the need for additional accessories.
Software and Connectivity
The device runs on Android with an optimized, slimmer version of the TouchWiz interface, which improves overall system speed. It offers full 4G LTE support, dual-channel WiFi ac with MIMO for a stable internet connection, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and an infrared port. On the rear, in addition to the 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), there is also a heart rate sensor, which works seamlessly with the S Health application for monitoring vital functions.
