The Google Pixel 7a has a modern and sleek design with an aluminum frame and a plastic back with a matte finish. The characteristic horizontal camera bar provides a recognizable appearance that is in line with the other Pixel 7 models. The device is compact and lightweight, with an IP67 certification that provides protection against dust and immersion in water. The build quality feels solid, and the rounded corners provide a pleasant grip.

Screen

The Pixel 7a's 6.1-inch OLED screen delivers bright colors, deep blacks, and a high contrast ratio. With a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and a refresh rate of 90Hz, the screen offers smooth animations and sharp display of content. The screen brightness is sufficient for comfortable use in bright daylight, and HDR support ensures improved display of videos and images.

Performance

The Pixel 7a is equipped with the Google Tensor G2 chip, the same processor used in the more expensive Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. This chip offers excellent performance for daily tasks, multitasking and graphics-intensive applications such as gaming and video editing. The 8GB RAM ensures smooth performance and fast app switching. The Tensor chip's AI capabilities take features like speech recognition, image editing, and live translation to the next level.

Battery

With a 4385 mAh battery capacity, the Pixel 7a delivers reliable battery life that can easily last a full day of mixed use. The device supports fast charging up to 18W via USB-C and wireless charging up to 7.5W, which is quite unique for a mid-range device. Thanks to optimizations in Android and the Tensor G2 chip, power consumption is efficient even at higher refresh rates.

Software and Connectivity

The Google Pixel 7a runs on a clean version of Android 13, with guaranteed software updates for at least three years and security updates for up to five years. The interface is fast, clear and free of unnecessary apps. In terms of connectivity, the device offers 5G support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC for contactless payments, and eSIM support in addition to the physical nano SIM. Thanks to the close integration of software and hardware, the device delivers a premium user experience in a more affordable package.
