Design
The Google Pixel Watch 4 retains the series' signature minimalist, round aesthetic, but introduces a striking domed display design where the screen itself runs smoothly under the curved glass. The watch case is made from 100% recycled aluminum, resulting in a feather-light weight of only 31 grams (without strap). Google has managed to reduce the screen edges (bezels) by 16% compared to the predecessor. The watch has an IP68 and 5 ATM certification, making it completely dustproof and suitable for swimming up to a depth of 50 meters. Physical operation is via a tactile haptic crown (dial) and a subtle side button.
Screen
The round 1.2-inch Actua 360 display uses advanced LTPO AMOLED technology with a pixel density of 320 ppi. The panel has a variable refresh rate from 1 to 60Hz to display animations smoothly and save energy during static displays. The maximum brightness has been significantly upgraded to an impressive peak of 3000 nits, allowing the interface to remain perfectly readable under bright, direct sunlight, while the screen can dim to just 1 nit in dark rooms. The top layer is made of specially tailored 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Performance
The hardware is powered by the dual-chipset platform consisting of the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 main processor and a highly efficient Cortex-M55 co-processor. This configuration delivers 25% faster performance while drastically halving power consumption. Together with 2GB RAM, this ensures an immediate response and smooth transition between applications. For accurate running and navigation routes, the watch has a Dual-Frequency GPS receiver. In addition, this model is equipped with Bluetooth 6.0 and an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) chip for precise spatial localization and digital car key functions.
Battery
The built-in 325 mAh lithium-ion battery takes full advantage of the energy-efficient co-processor and the LTPO screen. The smartwatch offers reliable battery life of up to 30 hours with a consistently activated Always-On Display, which goes up to 48 hours when battery saver mode is enabled. The charging system has been completely renewed with a magnetic Quick Charge Dock, which significantly increases the charging speed: the battery charges to 50% in just 15 minutes, reaches 80% in 25 minutes and is fully charged again to 100% within 45 minutes.
Software and Health Tracking
The Pixel Watch 4 runs Wear OS 6.0 with the updated Material 3 Expressive interface, which offers deep integration with Google Gemini AI through features such as 'Raise to Talk' for voice control without a wake-up word. The health and fitness monitoring is completely controlled by Fitbit algorithms and an extensive sensor array on the inside. In addition to a multi-path optical heart rate monitor, ECG support and a SpO2 sensor, the hardware has a cEDA sensor for measuring stress responses and a highly accurate skin temperature sensor that warns of early symptoms of illness. The optional LTE variant also adds a standalone satellite SOS communication service for emergencies outside the range of mobile networks.
