Design
The Apple AirPods Max (USB-C) are over-ear wireless headphones with a stainless steel frame, telescopic arms and earcups made of anodized aluminum. The headband is equipped with a breathable mesh fabric (canopy) for even weight distribution. The device measures 168.6 x 83.4 x 187.3 mm and weighs 384.8 grams (the included Smart Case weighs 134.5 gram). De bediening verloopt via een fysieke Digital Crown voor volumeregeling en mediabediening, gecombineerd met een aparte knop voor ruisonderdrukking. De magnetische oorkussens zijn gemaakt van akoestisch traagschuim. Het model is uitgebracht in een vernieuwd kleurenpalet waaronder Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple en Orange.

Geen scherm aanwezig. Een status-LED aan de onderzijde van de rechteroorschelp geeft de batterij- en koppelingsstatus weer.
Prestaties
Aangedreven door twee Apple H1-chips (één in elke oorschelp) met elk 10 audiokernen voor computationele audio. De koptelefoon beschikt over door Apple ontworpen dynamische drivers van 40 mm, Actieve Ruisonderdrukking (ANC), Transparantiemodus, Adaptive EQ en Ruimtelijke Audio met dynamische hoofdtracking. De herziene USB-C variant ondersteunt tevens lossless audio-invoer via een bedrade USB-C verbinding met compatibele apparaten. In totaal zijn er negen microfoons geïntegreerd: acht voor ruisonderdrukking en drie voor spraakregistratie (waarvan twee gedeeld met ANC). Hands-free voice control via "Hey Siri" is also available.
Battery and Ports
The device offers up to 20 hours of listening time, talk time or movie playback on a single charge with Active Noise Cancellation or Transparency Mode enabled. Charging is via a universal USB-C port on the bottom of the right earcup, where a 5-minute fast charge provides approximately 1.5 hours of listening time. When the headphones are placed in the included Smart Case, they automatically switch to an ultra-low power mode to save battery life. Wireless connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.3 for pairing with Apple devices and other Bluetooth sources.
