Design
The Garmin fēnix 7X Pro Solar is designed for extreme durability and has a rugged 51mm housing. The watch features a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a titanium back and watch bezel. A unique feature of this model is the built-in LED flashlight with variable intensities and a red safety mode, which is essential for nighttime adventures. The device meets the strictest military standards for heat, shock and water resistance up to 10 ATM, and combines a responsive touchscreen with physical buttons for maximum control.
Screen
Unlike AMOLED, this model uses an energy-efficient 'memory-in-pixel' (MIP) display that is easily readable in direct bright sunlight. The screen is equipped with a Power Sapphire lens, which is not only scratch resistant, but also harvests solar energy to extend battery life. Although the colors are less saturated than with an AMOLED screen, the Pro version offers improved contrasts and a new backlight for better readability in the dark.
Performance
This watch is equipped with the latest Gen 5 heart rate sensor for unprecedented accuracy during intensive training. fēnix 7X Pro Solar features multi-band GNSS with SatIQ™ technology, which automatically selects the best GPS mode to accurately determine position without unnecessarily draining the battery. With advanced features such as Hill Score and Endurance Score, athletes gain in-depth insight into their climbing ability and long-term endurance based on their training history. In smartwatch mode, the watch lasts up to 28 days, which can be extended to 37 days with sufficient sun exposure. For long expeditions, Expedition GPS mode offers up to 62 days of use (or 139 days with solar power), making this device ideal for users who rarely have access to a charging point.
Battery
The battery performance is market leading, partly thanks to the integrated solar energy technology. In smartwatch mode, the watch lasts up to 28 days, which can be extended to 37 days with sufficient sun exposure. For long expeditions, Expedition GPS mode offers a battery life of up to 62 days (or 139 days with solar power), making this device ideal for users who rarely have access to a charging point.
Software and Connectivity
The watch runs on Garmin's extensive ecosystem and offers seamless integration with Garmin Connect for data analysis. It supports advanced navigation features such as Up Ahead information and extensive TopoActive maps that can be downloaded directly via WiFi. In addition, it has Garmin Pay, music storage for offline listening and a wide range of smart notifications. The device is fully compatible with external sensors via Bluetooth and ANT+ for a professional training experience.
