Design
The Sony Xperia L3 has a compact and ergonomic design with a back made of glossy polycarbonate and a sturdy chassis. Sony has opted for a more modern 18:9 aspect ratio for this device, which keeps the device relatively narrow and can be operated comfortably with one hand. A signature aspect of the design is the fingerprint sensor, which is strategically placed on the right side between the power button and the volume buttons. Unlike many other models of the era, the L3 retains a traditional 3.5mm audio jack on the top.
Display
The 5.7-inch IPS LCD display offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1570 pixels. Although these are lower specifications than Full HD, the panel delivers excellent sharpness for basic daily tasks, surfing the internet and watching videos. The IPS technology ensures decent viewing angles and true-to-life color reproduction. To protect the screen against scratches and light impacts, the front is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which was a high-quality addition for an entry-level model at the time.
Performance
Under the hood is the MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor, which is supported by 3GB of RAM. This configuration is optimized for basic operations such as sending messages, using social media, managing emails and running lightweight mobile applications. Multitasking between everyday apps is stable, although the device is not designed for heavy graphic 3D games. The internal storage of 32GB can easily be expanded with a microSD card for storing photos and documents locally.
Battery
The Xperia L3 is equipped with a 3300 mAh battery, which, in combination with the energy-efficient processor and the lower-resolution screen, ensures good energy efficiency. This allows the device to easily reach the end of an intensive work or school day without having to recharge in between. Sony has also integrated its own 'Xperia Adaptive Charging' technology, which monitors the battery status during charging to prevent overcharging and thus extend the overall life of the battery in the long term.
Software and Connectivity
The device was launched with Android at the time and offers a relatively clean interface with minimal software adjustments by Sony. In terms of connectivity, the L3 has a USB-C port that supports USB Power Delivery for more efficient charging. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi and a built-in NFC chip, making contactless payments and quick connections to external audio accessories possible. At the rear there is a dual camera system with a 13-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait photos.
